Privacy Policy

1. What we collect
We collect only the minimum data needed to run the Service:
| Data | Why | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Email address & account identifier | Create and authenticate your account; send subscription emails. | You, via our authentication provider Clerk. |
| Subscription status, billing country, last four digits of card | Determine whether the Service should unlock for you; comply with tax law. | Lemon Squeezy, our payments provider. |
Anonymous product analytics events (e.g. app_launched, update_installed, check_for_updates_clicked) with anonymous device identifier, OS version, and app version | Understand which features are used and detect crashes. | PostHog SDK embedded in the macOS app. |
| HTTP server logs (IP, user-agent, requested path, timestamp) for visits to the website and update feed | Operate, secure, and debug the website and update service. | Amazon CloudFront, our CDN. |
2. What we do NOT collect
UseAIBetter runs your prompt critiques through the claude CLI installed on your own machine, using your own Anthropic credentials. We never see, store, or transmit:
- the text of your prompts;
- file contents, source code, or any other input you share with
claude; - the critique results;
- your Anthropic API key or session;
- the contents of your terminal or IDE.
3. Subprocessors
| Provider | Role | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk, Inc. | Authentication and user profile storage. | USA |
| Lemon Squeezy (LMSQUEEZY LLC) | Merchant of record; subscription billing, tax remittance. | UK / EU / USA |
| PostHog, Inc. | Anonymous product analytics. | USA or EU (chosen at setup) |
| Amazon Web Services | Static site hosting, CDN, update feed. | USA (us-east-1) |
4. Cookies
The marketing website itself sets no cookies. The Lemon Squeezy checkout overlay and the Clerk sign-in page each set their own cookies necessary for those services to function (security, fraud prevention, session). Refer to Lemon Squeezy’s cookie notice and Clerk’s privacy policy for details.
5. Legal basis (EU/UK users)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: contract (account, billing, and update delivery — we cannot provide the Service without this data), legitimate interest (operational logs, anti-fraud, anonymous product analytics), and consent where required by law.
6. Retention
- Account data (Clerk): kept while your account exists, deleted on request within 30 days.
- Billing records (Lemon Squeezy): kept for as long as Lemon Squeezy is required by tax law (typically 7–10 years in their jurisdiction).
- Analytics events (PostHog): retained at PostHog’s default of 12 months, then deleted.
- CloudFront access logs: not retained beyond CloudFront’s standard short-term operational window unless we explicitly enable archival.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR and the CCPA), you have the right to:
- request access to a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion of your account and associated personal data;
- request restriction of, or object to, processing;
- request portability of the data you provided;
- withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing);
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email shahar.sonsino@uniqsale.com. We respond within 30 days.
8. International transfers
We and our subprocessors operate primarily in the United States and the European Union. Where data crosses borders, we rely on the standard contractual clauses published by the European Commission and equivalent UK addenda where applicable.
9. Security
We use TLS 1.2+ for all network traffic, store secrets in AWS Secrets Manager with KMS encryption, and require multi-factor authentication for administrative access. The Sparkle auto-update channel is signed with an EdDSA key stored offline; the macOS app refuses to install any update that does not verify against the embedded public key.
10. Children
The Service is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from, children under the age of 16.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes are communicated by email to active subscribers.
